SERENIC PARES LOSS BY 68 PERCENT
Serenic cut its loss by 68.3 percent as revenue rose by 1.4 percent for the third quarter ended November 30. The maker of nonprofit software reported a net loss of $103,595, down from $326,629 in last year's corresponding quarter.
Revenue for the most recently ended period was $2.68 million, up from $2.64 million a year earlier. All numbers are in Canadian dollars. The bottom line was helped out by a change in the exchange rate with U.S. dollars which produced $93,049 in other income. Serenic said software licenses for the quarter were 15.9 percent higher than in the same period in 2010 because of increased business in the North America channel. Direct license sales dropped while international sales were about the same as a year earlier. Client services revenue was off by 24 percent as the year-ago numbers reflected the company's having processed a backlog of implementation and services work in that quarter. Software maintenance revenue rose 12.8 percent because of growth in the installed base and high renewal rates.
