MIP CO-FOUNDER TURLEY DIES Featured

Rusty Turley, MIP Co-founderHans E. "Rusty" Turley Jr.,  a co-founder of the former Micro Information Products, died on September 24. Turley co-founded MIP in 1982 and sold the company to the Sage Group in 2001.

The nonprofit MIP accounting product line is now owned by Abila, which itself was purchased by the newly-formed Community Brands this year. A CPA, he worked in the systems division of the Texas State Auditor's office where he met his wife, BJ, and soon formed MIP, along with co-founder. Bill Locklear. Linda Kolker, now with Intacct, worked with MIP before its acquisition by Sage. "The world has lost a smart, kind soul," she says. Turley died after a six-month battle with lung cancer. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, October 1, at the Cook-Walden Funeral Home at 6100 North Lamar Austin TX, 78752.
