AND THE WINNER IS? MARC BENIOFF Featured

Marc Benioff, Salesforce.comA lot of pundits are debating the impact of Sage's launch of Life, the all-in-one cloud product, that is based on the SalesForce1 platform. I should say, going to be based on that platform as the evidence is it is not a real product yet. Let us remember that Salesforce is a minority investor (but I remember it as a big chunk) in FinancialForce.com, a cloud-based financial system The majority owner is Unit4. FinancialForce.com is also based on the Salesforce1 platform.

Life is supposed to bring together the front- and back-office functions in one package. In a recent quote in Forbes, FinancialForce.com CEO Jeremy Roche, said, "The back office actually has to become part of the front office." Now FinancialForce.com is higher in the market than Life will be, with a target of companies with 10 to 200 employees. So among the many fuzzy facts about Life is where would is end users migrate when they get bigger? Right now, you have FinancialForce which is already in the cloud and Sage trying to get there. FinancialForce has one platform while Sage's product lineup looks like Platforms "R Us. Who you gonna call? It looks like a win-win for Saleforce CEO Marc Benioff.
