RANDOM THOUGHTS: SIGMUND FREUD

Sigmund FreudI went to a recital at a church in Jersey City this weekend which was held to benefit restoration of its organ. Someone asked me what I knew about organ restoration and I replied, "They have pills for that now." .... I was watching my wife working on eggs in the living room. "Are those deviled eggs?" I asked. "No, just mildly annoyed," she responded. ... The 160th birthday of Sigmund Freud, the father of modern psychoanalysis, is this month, and it's worth a reminder that sometimes a candle, is just a candle.

In Freud's honor, a Broadway musical "My Ego, My Id and I", is being readied with Nathan Lane as Ego and Matthew Broderick as Id.... A couple in Tecumseh, Mich., avoided a possible 93 days in day and a $500 fine for failing to return one book and having lost the book "A Hatful of Seuss" borrowed by their teenage son in July 2014. They agreed to pay fines and  for the books instead. Their plea was touching: "I do not want to go to jail. I would not do it for a snail. I would not do it with a tail. I do not want to go to jail." .... A Florida man faced assault charges for throwing a 3.5-foot alligator into a drive-thru window. He explained he thought the restaurant accepted barter and he was waiting for change when police picked him up. "I figured I'd get two lizards and a couple of eggs back," he said. His first explanation that the alligator was a service animal that helped pick up his order also did not sell. And another excuse that it was to help with a possible restaurant theme urging customers to "bite into our food."
