RANDOM THOUGHTS: PHIL SPECTOR

Phil SpectorLove the advertisements for the Phil Spector Christmas album that are on radio right now. Spector is serving 19 years to life for murder. So of course, the latest version of his legendary work will include “I Fought the Law and the Law Won” and a special holiday rendition of “Folsom Prison Blues” and “I didn’t shoot the sheriff, the deputy or that broad."

And it’s just in time for his appeal of his conviction to the Supreme Court. … There’s a new movie out for the holiday season which is a sure hit with many adults. It’s the “I hate the Chipmunks” movie. It features that lovely ballad “Chipmunks roasting over an open fire.” And in an update to "It's a Wonderful Life", George Bailey's building and loan gets in trouble from all the subprime loans it made. However, Bailey gets a government bailout; he sells out to Henry Potter's bank for a fortune and he lives happily ever after. Bedford Falls, however, becomes a ghost town. … Another family favorite that is getting updated for the holidays is “Three Men and a Baby”. This version centers around the appearance of the lady, and the three candidates on the “Maury” show. The men wait nervously for Maury to issue that legendary phrase “You are the father.” A plan for a “Maury Povich Home Paternity Test” was scotched when producers realized it would kill the 19-years old program. … … I always wonder about this time of year what happened to the Second and Third Noels?
