Bob Menendez, U.S. SenatorI was standing at the convention center in Atlanta looking toward the sky. "It just makes you thing how insignificant we are; how much life is outside our control; how we are buffeted about by events?" "You mean when confronted with nature?" "No, I mean when confronted with Microsoft." ... I have never gotten the hang of loyalty programs. When I saw a notice at Starbucks promoting that company's program, I asked a barista "Where do I take the loyalty oath?"

Does this mean I have to defend Starbucks against other coffee chains? ... I had forgotten that to get to breakfast at the Georgia World Congress Center we have to descend via a series of escalators. At the end of one I spotted a sign, "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here." I turned to the guy next me and remarked, "I think we have gone a little too far." ... Looks like New Jersey will soon open the 2015 public official indictment season with probable charges being brought against Senator Bob Menendez. The Garden State is the only one in the nation with an official state crime. "New Jersey, where witness protection is a both right and a duty." ... Newark Airport has replaced most of the main line fast food stores—McDonald's, Nathan's, Dunkin Donuts—in its "C" Terminal with more trendy places, and outlets with the word "Gourmet" in their name. The airport advertises it as a new dining experience. Actually, it's an old dining experience--gouging a captive audience. ... Saw an IHOP Express for the first time while in the Atlanta airport. There's two words I have never seen associated with each other, "IHOP" and "Express".
