Microsoft started off fiscal 2012 on a strong note with the performance of its Dynamics lines. The company said Dynamics sales for the first quarter ended September 30 were 17 percent higher than a year earlier.

Dynamics is part of the Microsoft Business Division whose operating income hit $3.7 billion for the most recently ended quarter, a 6 percent rise from $3.5 billion a year earlier.
