VENA SOLUTIONS RAISES $75 MILLION Featured

Don Mal, Vena SolutionsVena Solutions, which makes cloud-based financial planning and analysis software, has raised  about $75 million ($115 million Canadian) in equity funding. That follows approximately $22.5 million ($30 million Canadian) in funds raised in 2016.

The Toronto, Ont.-based company said it will use the funds to accelerate its growth and scale operations to operate worldwide. The round was led JMI Equity, which was joined by existing investor Centana Growth Partners. Vena is led by co-founder Don Mal, who has been CEO since the company’s launch in 2011, except the period from May through October 2018, when Shawn Cadeau moved into that spot Cadeau left the company with Mal's return. Vena’s software has—a magical phrase in analytical software—an Excel interface. In the most recent product update in December, Vena added to its FP&A package ad hoc analysis, an improved manager interface, an interactive status tracker, a mapping summary, and integration and modeling enhancements.
