DYNAMICS GP ENDING IN 2029 Featured

Microsoft has announced that will end product support and updates for Dynamics GP on Sep. 30, 2029.

The company said security patches will end on April 30, 2031. The announcement was made by Mike Morton, VP for Dynamics Business Central, which is the product Microsoft is pushing GP users toward. This follows Microsoft’ disastrous handling of the GP announcement in April 2023 when it said new licenses would be sold after 2026. This week’s announcement drew some quick responses from the reseller channel. For example, Enavate offered a free two-hour consultation with a senior GP consultant to “identify key areas for system optimization and future-proof growth and operational strategies.”  The long history of GP under its previous name of Great Plains goes back to DOS versions in the early 1990s with the first Windows Versions of what was first known as Dynamics released in 1993. After Microsoft acquired Great Plains Software in 2000, the product became Microsoft Great Plains in 2004 and Dynamics GP in 2006.
